A molecule is made up of two or more atoms. Ionic compounds are formed when an ionic bond is created between a metal and non-metal. Acids can be either ionic or molecular. Which type of acid you have depends on the number of hydrogen ions that it contains and the number of electrons in its chemical bonds.

The acidity (pH) level measures how acidic your body fluids are at any given time as well as whether you may have electrolyte imbalances due to dehydration–for example, from vomiting, diarrhea, exercise during heat waves or other conditions such as kidney disease. A pH below seven indicates an increase risk for infection in wounds because beneficial bacteria cannot live there while higher values indicate alkalinity which inhibits bacterial growth.
