Boston Terriers have a reputation for being very affectionate, even going so far as to be called “Velcro dogs.” They are also known for their short hair and lack of odor. But did you know that Boston Terriers are hypoallergenic? Every dog produces drool, urine, skin-dwelling bacteria and mites; these all cause allergic reactions in some people. The good news is that because the average terrier has such short hair–less than an inch long–these allergens stay close to the surface where they can easily be vacuumed away or brushed off. This feature makes them one of the less likely breeds to produce allergy symptoms in prospective owners with allergies themselves (although it’s always wise to consult a doctor and conduct an allergy test before finalizing the adoption process).
