A trip through a few foods we eat:

Production Apples, oranges, peanuts and rice grains are all produced by different sources. Some may be grown in your backyard or in someone else’s backyard. Others might come from across the world as far away as Africa or South America.

The journey to get them into your grocery store can take days, weeks, even months! Apples are grown in the United States and China.

They can be bought at your grocery store or produce stand, but they might have travelled from across the world on a cargo ship to get there!

Some countries like Nigeria do not import apples much because their soil is too acidic for them to grow naturally.

Most likely you will see an orange next to my apple while I am shopping though since oranges come from Africa! Peanuts also take a long journey before arriving at our tables as well.

The peanuts that we eat may come from Mexico, Brazil, Peru or even India depending on what kind of peanut butter you buy. In fact, some types of peanut butter contain mostly roasted peanuts which means they were imported and then processed overseas.
