Men’s fashion is really coming into its own, and men are looking to up their style game. Interview with a Fashion and Beauty Guru: Tips for Men to Up Their Style offers advice on how to do just that. From what clothes you should be wearing, to how you should wear them this blog post has got it all!

Interviewer:

What advice do you have for men who want to improve their overall style?

Fashion Guru:

I would recommend getting inspiration from magazines, friends, brands on Instagram/Twitter basically anywhere online where you can find ideas! Then mix them together and experiment with different styles until something clicks 🙂 And most importantly, try not to be afraid of trying out new things! There’s nothing wrong with wearing a bright colour or experimenting with patterns if that’s the sort of thing you enjoy – just have fun with it! It’s not about being perfect or following the rules.

Interviewer:

Is there anything else that would be helpful for men to know?

Fashion Guru:

I think it’s important to remember that clothes are supposed to make us feel good, so don’t say no to something because someone told you that only girls/boys/mods etc can wear certain items. Clothes are meant for everyone and if something makes you happy then rock it! Your happiness is what matters 🙂 And always stay true to yourself when making fashion choices. If people judge you in a negative way, ignore them since they aren’t worth your time anyway 😀 Interview finished at 11pm on the 26th of June 2018.

Interviewer:

Thank you for your time and it was great learning more about fashion and men’s style!

Style advice for men

Style advice for men is becoming more popular, but there are still many men who rely on old rules and preconceived notions about what style tips for men should or shouldn’t be. A fashion blogger gave us five essential tips to ensure your wardrobe is stylish.

Keep it simple

In his opinion, this rule goes hand in hand with the first tip of “knowing yourself.” In order to know how you like to dress and feel comfortable, avoid trends that aren’t classic pieces. Keeping things simple will keep you looking put together without trying too hard a major faux pas! I love how he brought up clashing patterns as an example. If you end up going overboard with bold prints, then all the items become irrelevant because they don’t go together at all.

Mix and match

This is one of the most important tips because it’s easy to get stuck in a rut with your clothes. If you always wear dress pants, why not switch it up by adding a blazer or sweater? This will make all of your outfits feel fresh and new which is exactly what we’re going for! The best part about this tip: if you like wearing jeans, please don’t give them up. There are so many ways to pair different pieces together that can still fit into any professional environment!  For example, smart casual work attire. A good rule he brought up was mixing textures as well as patterns. For instance, pairing chinos with an Oxford shirt would be classic while throwing on a patterned blazer will make it a little more exciting.

Invest in key pieces

It’s always better to spend a little extra money on items that you know won’t go out of style. He brought up two must-have wardrobe staples: the perfect pair of jeans and suede dress shoes. The first piece is especially helpful if you’re at all unsure about what other clothes to buy then, once your solid foundation is set, start branching off into clothing that fits your personality!  Another classic staple was denim jackets. They look great with any casual outfit and can be worn almost year round depending on where you live. Lastly but most importantly: timeless sunglasses . They never go out of style so don’t worry about buying them once a year.

Shop online

This is something that has always been true but it’s especially important for men to take advantage of the internet when shopping! The blogger brought up two great websites: ASOS and Mr Porter, which have tons of classic pieces at reasonable prices. Not only will you look good once you get your clothes home, but they’ll actually fit well too because these sites offer complimentary tailoring with each order. What more could we ask for??  Just remember not every site works the same way so make sure to read reviews before buying anything expensive from an unknown brand!

Other tips

  • You should wear clothes that are appropriate for the occasion. This is true across all situations, but especially in business. If you’re interviewing for a job or meeting someone important, dress appropriately!
  • Keep your look simple when attending an event where there will be lots of people. Too many accessories can make it difficult to stand out from other guys who might have overdone their outfit too much as well!
  • Make sure you know what color palette you’re working with before you head out to buy new clothes. You don’t want to go and purchase a bunch of colors that clash, as it can be very difficult for others (and yourself) to look at!
  • Make sure the fit of your outfit is flattering on your body type. This is really important when shopping online or off season because styles and sizes tend to fluctuate dramatically from year-to-year.
  • If you find an article of clothing that fits great but doesn’t quite match anything in your wardrobe, consider getting creative by layering it with other pieces you own. This goes for items like scarves, ties, belts, anything really!
  • You should invest in a professional hair cut and blow dry once every six weeks or so if you want to maintain your current style. It guarantees that after just one trip to the salon, people will notice an improvement in your appearance!

The most amazing person you will ever meet. I am the internet's original narcissist, and I'm not afraid to say it! My life is one big globetrotting adventure that only ends when death takes me away from all this beauty - which could be sooner rather than later if my health doesn't improve soon enough ( hospital visits are expensive ). But until then: onward into unknown territory...
