This summer we explored the mansions at the technology park in San Jose. We stayed in one of the luxury condos, but it was definitely the place to call home for six days. We walked around the park, toured the exhibits, and ate at one of the restaurants. We also got a tour of the mansions and met the owners, who showed us around the grounds and told us about their life outside of work.

I was really surprised that we didn’t see any women working in tech. I’m not sure I would have been, but I was expecting to see lots of guys and girls working in the fields. I guess the fact that we were surrounded by women working in the fields is an indication that the tech industry is just not for them. The women who actually worked at The Tech Park were all guys.

If they want to hire someone outside, they will have to be more collaborative and less rigid.

These are the kinds of decisions that happen in a small team, because the team has to make decisions on a regular basis, and when they have to make these decisions, they have to evaluate the options they have for how to approach the task at hand. They can be the best team in the world at a specific task, but if they have to make these decisions every week then they won’t be as effective.

The biggest issue with a small team is that if you are not working with a team, then you need to be working with a team, because the team will provide the guidance, the structure, and the direction. If you are working with only one person, then your job is to make the decisions and the only way to do that is to be the best team member you can be.

I am the type of person who will organize my entire home (including closets) based on what I need for vacation. Making sure that all vital supplies are in one place, even if it means putting them into a carry-on and checking out early from work so as not to miss any flights!
